British Theatre Dance Association
All of the students who attend classes will be entered for exams at regular intervals.We hold at least 5 examination sessions a year to enable each student to progress technically in the following subjects ;
BTDA Examinations in dance:
~ encourage individual students to express themselves through dance
~ place an emphasis on performance
~ enable students to develop a broad base of skills and abilities in different disciplines
~ allow students to develop their social skills and own personalities
The BTDA is a member of both Dance UK and the Council for Dance Education and Training UK (CDET). BTDA examinations are regulated qualifications which are Ofqual accredited into the National Framework. The higher examinations are equivalent in skills and understanding to that of GCSEs and A levels, attracting up to 70 UCAS points and recognised by Universities.
For pupils from the age of 3 up to 10 years of age we offer the Rose Award System. This first level of exams are a stepping stone for young dancers to the comprehensive grading system, designed to build confidence.
The dance school has 100% pass rate in the examinations and medals, with more than 76% of students gaining a distinction and many achieving a Platinum Award by gaining over 90% in their exam.
Goscote Dance students also have the opportunity to apply for a dance scholarship through the BTDA. This is open to all students who are in full-time education and hold a BTDA grade 2 certificate. This encourages the individual to develop their dance ability and gives them a monetary award towards their examination fees.
